Laura Linney is an American actor who has become famous for her portrayal of vulnerable but strong characters. She was raised by a single, unmarried mother who worked as a nurse. She became interested in theatre during the summers spent with her father, who was famous. Her studies in acting were through Brown University, and later in Juilliard School. After graduating from Brown University she made making her Broadway debut shortly thereafter. After two years of that, her first film was released and the next year her TV debut. Since then, she has appeared in many films, TV plays and stage productions. Throughout her career, she has received several awards. Some of them includes the two Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. Although she has received numerous accolades, she is still a lover of the theatre, and has appeared on stage and screen.
